| | Department: | Events | | Event Type: | Movie | | Details: | The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the exclusive Arizona premiere of the award-winning feature film “The Tillman Story” on Tuesday, August 10 at 4:00 and 7:00 p.m. at Harkins Sedona Six Theatres. The screenings are free and open to the public and are presented by the Sedona International Film Festival in this one-night-only special engagement.
Sedona audiences get to experience this powerful and moving film ten days before the U.S. theatrical premiere in Los Angeles, New York and Phoenix. The event marks Member and community appreciation night to thank the Sedona community and the festival’s members for their support of independent film and the festival all year long.
When Pat Tillman gave up his professional football career with the Arizona Cardinals to join the Army Rangers in 2002, he became an instant symbol of patriotic fervor and unflinching duty. But the truth about Pat Tillman is far more complex, and ultimately far more heroic, then the caricature. And when the government tried to turn his death into propaganda, they took on the wrong family. From her home in Northern California, Pat’s mother, Dannie Tillman, led the family’s crusade to reveal the truth beneath the mythology of their son’s life and death. “The Tillman Story” resounds with emotion and insight, and goes beyond an indictment of the government to touch on themes as timeless as the notion of heroism itself.
